Which of our Whiteboards Is Right for You?

A guide to choosing between Studioboard Pro, Studioboard Framed, and Layer Pin & Write.

Ester Barbisch

Every team works differently. Some need a board that performs at the highest level, day after day. Others want a magnetic surface at a fair price. And some need a compact, mobile layer they can take from room to room. Here's how to find yours.

Studioboard Pro — The Purist's Board

Studioboard Pro

For you if: You want the best writing surface we make — and nothing less.

The Studioboard Pro is built around one idea: an uncompromising surface. Our proprietary matte coating is low glare, resists ghosting and feels different from any whiteboard you've used before. It's the board you choose when performance matters most.

At just 6.7 kg, it's also the lightest full-size whiteboard in its class — over 4 m² of writable surface (both sides), carried by one person. The form is deliberately minimal: golden-ratio proportions, no visible frame, just a clean edge in beech plywood. It looks as good as it works.

The Pro is not magnetic. A magnetic steel surface at this size would weigh well over 12 kg — and that would defeat the purpose. Instead, the Pro's textured surface holds sticky notes reliably, making it ideal for workshops, sprints, and visual collaboration.

Studioboard Framed — The Essential Board

Studioboard Framed

For you if: You want a magnetic whiteboard with a solid build — at a great price.

The Studioboard Framed is the most versatile board in our range. Its Microsteel surface holds magnets on both sides — perfect for Kanban cards, printouts, sketches, or anything you want to pin up and rearrange. The solid beechwood frame gives it a warm, crafted look that fits any room.

At 7.9 kg, it's remarkably light for a full-size magnetic whiteboard. The construction — Microsteel over a honeycomb core, framed in solid beech — keeps weight down without sacrificing stability. It's also the best value in the lineup.

The Microsteel surface is easy to clean — marker wipes off in seconds. One thing to keep in mind: clean it regularly with a wet damp cloth to prevent ghosting over time. With good habits, the surface stays spotless.

Layer Pin & Write — The Double Agent

Layer Pin & Write

For you if: You need a compact, mobile surface — whiteboard on one side, pinboard on the other.

The Layer Pin & Write packs two tools into one: a magnetic whiteboard on the front and a soft recycled felt pinboard on the back. Flip it, and you switch from sketching to pinning in seconds. The felt side also absorbs sound, helping to reduce echo in open or glass-walled rooms.

At 6.6 kg (Large) or 3.6 kg (Small), the Layer is easy to grab and go. It's available in two sizes — ideal when you want a second surface for break-outs, moodboards, or design reviews without dedicating a full wall.

The Layer is not a standalone board. It's designed to hang on a Wall Rail, attach to a Studioboard as a second layer, sit on a Flipchart easel, or rest on the Layer Stand. Think of it as a module that plugs into your setup wherever you need extra surface.

The Microsteel side cleans just like the Studioboard Framed — easy to wipe, but keep up with regular wet damp cleaning to avoid ghosting.

Which one is right for you?

What matters most to you? Your board
Best surface, no ghosting, purist design Studioboard Pro
Magnetic, great value, great all-rounder Studioboard Framed
Compact, multifunctional, great add-on Layer Pin & Write

All three are part of the same modular system — they work with the Wall Rail, the Studioboard Stand, the Flipchart, and with each other. Start with one, expand when you need more.
